Dermal Fillers

Three layers comprise normal skin: the epidermis or outer layer, the dermis or middle layer, and the innermost layer of fat. The major component of the dermis is collagen. As we age, the normal volume and production of collagen decreases. The reduced volume and the effects of gravity contribute to the formation of lines and wrinkles. Luckily, there are ways to combat the signs of aging and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in the future with dermal fillers.

Dermal fillers are compounds that are injected directly into the dermis to restore volume and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Currently, Vanguard Dermatology proudly offers the Restylane, Perlane, and the Juvederm dermal filler lines.

About Flexile Classic

Restylane offers a decrease in facial wrinkles and folds as well lip enhancements. Its main ingredient is hyaluronic acid, which binds with the skin’s water molecules, therefore presenting hydrated and younger-looking skin. The Restylane brand of dermal fillers also include Restylane Silk and Restylane Lyft, which all contribute to collagen production in order to act back on the skin’s aging process. Restylane can also be used as a lip filler. The Restylane lip filler restores soft tissue in the lips lost to the aging process. This adds subtle, natural volume to the lips which inherently makes them appear younger.

Juvederm works similarly to Restylane. It adds plumpness to the lips and volume to the cheeks. This filler can also smooth facial creases, helping to provide a smoother overall youthful appearance. It includes the ingredients of lidocaine, a numbing agent so less pain is felt during and post-procedure, and hyaluronic acid. This filler tends to last about a year; longer than other fillers. It’s best used around the nose and mouth, helping to decrease the appearance of laugh and smile lines obtained throughout the years.

Perlane is perfect for areas of the face that need a more enhanced lift. You will see more drastic results, so it is recommended that this filler be used on areas with more severe aging. This is a great filler for creases around the mouth, nose, and eyes. The Perlane filler has a G prime rating. A high G prime rating means that Perlane has larger particles and holds its shape better than lower G prime fillers. This filler can also be used to restore some youth into the back of the hands. It contains hyaluronic acid and can last up to a year.

Everyone ages differently and everyone’s skin has different needs. You will want to ensure that you know what filler is right for you and can provide the results you are looking for while still enjoying a natural, youthful appearance. With just one treatment, you’ll get smooth and natural-looking results that last from six months up to a year. Each filler offers little to no downtime post-procedure, though there may be subtle bruising on the injection site. Depending on your individual needs, Vanguard Dermatology is here to walk you through the process and help you decide which filler is perfect for you.
